ABOUT ME

Anchor 1

My name is Oliver George Haines and I was born on November 5th 1996 in London, England. I was raised by my parents Helen and Tony Haines and grew up with my younger brother, Nathan.

Football (the European version!) has played a pivotal role in my life through experiences but also education. In 2012 I attended Oasis Academy Shirley Park in Croydon, England as a member of the most elite soccer programme in the country that allowed me to maximize my contact time on the field as well as the classroom. During my stay at Oasis, I earned 6 A's and 2 A*'s in my GCSE's. I also became a national champion, winning the ESFA boy's football tournament out over 700 competing teams. I was recognized nationally through the newspaper The Guardian for my achievement of such high grades whilst playing football at a national standard.

Life and football then took me to South Thames College (Merton Campus), where I took and earned distinction in BTEC Sports Management and Science, again whilst training and pursuing professional soccer. Even though this was challenging enough, my thirst for education lead me to pursue night classes and take AS Level Psychology, which I was awarded!

After graduation and assessing my options, I decided to take a soccer scholarship in the United States at Georgia State University in Atlanta. I spent 2 years at Georgia State, until I took a scholarship offer at Jesuit College, Regis University. Throughout my college career I have maintained a 3.5+ GPA as well as earning conference honors athletically. I am a Communication major with a specialized track on Public Relations and a minor in French. I am a competent French speaker, having learnt the language for over 8 years.

Football and academics aside, I enjoy reading books and watching movies. I also love to cook and try new cuisine: my favorites are both Italian and Thai food! Staying active is important to me, so if I am in off season I like to go the gym or workout six to seven times during a week.  My favorite holiday destination would have to be the Keys in Florida, as I love being by the ocean and nature to relax.

I hope this helped you get to know me a little more - check out my portfolio and resume for my professional accolades and achievements.
